FLIGHT PLANNING INCLUDED

Plan the view before take-off

Site, airspace, access, people, weather and final use are checked before attendance. That gives the available flight time a clear purpose rather than collecting random aerial shots.

AERIAL PLANNING WHAT DOES THE VIEW NEED TO SHOW?

A useful drone flight starts with the job, not the aircraft

Start with the view the client actually needs

Construction, property, inspection and production work all need different angles. The useful shots are agreed around what the client needs to show, explain or document.

Check airspace, access and site conditions first

Airspace, nearby people, take-off positions, weather, access and any permissions or coordination are considered before attendance.

Use aerial coverage to explain scale and layout

Aerial views can show buildings, roads, land, access, rooflines, grounds and surrounding context in a way that is difficult to explain from ground level alone.

Capture material that fits the final edit

For television, marketing and corporate projects, establishing shots, movement, clip length and tighter details can be planned around the rest of the production.

Deliver useful photographs or organised footage

Photography, graded footage, inspection imagery or organised raw clips can be supplied in the formats agreed for edit, web, reporting or project records.

PROPERTY FILMING — INSIDE AND OUT

Combine aerial views with interior property filming

Drone photography and video can show the building, plot, gardens, access and wider setting. When the project also needs interiors, the same property can be covered as a complete film with room-to-room footage, ground-level exterior shots and aerial coverage planned to work together.

Interior and exterior property video

For residential or commercial property filming that includes interiors as well as drone footage, use the dedicated South Wales Video property filming service.

RECENT DRONE WORK

Ground the aerial shots in the brief

A drone sequence is most useful when it answers the same communication need as the rest of the project. Construction clients may need progress and context; property clients need scale and setting; film crews may need a precise establishing shot; tourism work needs a clear sense of place.

The required views are agreed before flying so the final files are easier to use.

Camperpod Marketing Video

one-hour drone session in Lydney created a focused set of aerial marketing material for Camperpods, showing the pods within their surroundings and giving potential customers a clear sense of scale, setting and location.

The session produced a mix of smooth aerial video and establishing shots, providing Camperpods with flexible footage for its website, social media and future promotional campaigns.

DRONE FILMING IN CARDIFF

Commercial aerial work in the region’s busiest city

Cardiff is a major part of our regular coverage. Projects range from construction, civil engineering and commercial property to television, marketing, events and location filming.

Urban work can require more planning than an open rural site. Airspace, people, buildings, take-off positions, council-controlled land and the exact flight path can all affect what is practical. Sending the postcode and intended shots early gives time to assess the operation properly.

Cardiff projects that benefit from aerial coverage

Commercial premises and development sites can use drone photography to explain access, scale and surrounding infrastructure. Construction teams can document progress and completed works. Marketing and production clients can combine Cardiff city, Bay and wider location context with ground footage for a more complete view of the project.

AIRCRAFT MATCHED TO THE LOCATION

Two drones for different operating conditions

The larger aircraft gives greater camera flexibility, while the compact option can suit tighter or more sensitive locations when the operation allows it.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro commercial drone

DJI Mavic 4 Pro

For high-quality commercial aerial work. Its multi-camera system gives useful flexibility between wide establishing views and tighter details without moving the aircraft unnecessarily close to the subject.

DJI Mini 5 Pro used for compact commercial drone work

DJI Mini 5 Pro

For a smaller, lower-impact setup. The compact aircraft can be useful where the location, people and operating conditions make a lighter approach more appropriate.

DRONE SERVICE FAQ

Practical questions before booking

The exact location is always more useful than a general description because every flight has different surroundings, airspace and access.

Are you qualified and insured?

Yes. The service operates with GVC and A2 CofC qualifications and £1m insurance cover as standard, with higher limits available when required.

Can you fly in Cardiff and other built-up areas?

Potentially, but the exact location must be checked. Airspace, people, buildings, take-off options, landowner requirements and any local permissions affect what can be done safely and legally.

How quickly can a pilot attend?

Rapid deployment, including within 24 hours, may be possible depending on location, weather, airspace, access and the approvals required. Availability is confirmed after the brief is checked.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

Drone work depends on suitable visibility, wind and precipitation. If conditions are not safe or will not produce useful imagery, the flight may need to be rescheduled or the plan adjusted.

Can you supply photography and video on the same visit?

Yes. A single visit can include high-resolution stills and aerial video where the flight plan, conditions and available time allow. Tell us both requirements before attendance so the shot list accounts for them.

Can you make repeat visits for construction progress?

Yes. Repeat visits can follow agreed viewpoints and key project stages. This can create a clearer visual record of development than unrelated one-off flights.

Do you provide roof inspection reports?

The drone service can provide the required aerial imagery for inspection and review. If a specialist report is required, confirm that when enquiring so the appropriate scope and professional input can be agreed.

Do you travel outside South Wales?

Yes. Projects extend across Wales, Herefordshire and elsewhere in the UK. Send the exact site so travel, timing and flight requirements can be assessed together.
